Dean's speech

My dear students, Welcome to the Faculty of Dar Al-Ulum, the most prestigious college of Cairo University, and the oldest regular school in the history of contemporary Egypt. It was established in 1872 AD, and was founded by Eng. Ali Mubarak Pasha on the method of the “  College de France”;To be a castle of knowledge, open to all of our dear Egyptians, free in its curricula, tight in its programs, flexible in its regulations, capable of development in line with every era it passed through, and every new thing that requires keeping up, changing and modernizing, and in this academic year 2022/2023 AD we are preparing to celebrate With the passage of one hundred and fifty years since its birth, we turn its glorious pages, contemplate its lush trees, and its great contribution in the renaissance of Egyptian education, and the enrichment of Arab and Islamic culture with its thinkers, writers, and poets among the notables whose impact extended east and west, north and south in different countries of the world, teaching and establishing universities and colleges, and putting Courses and new disciplines, such as comparative literature, Islamic philosophy, and linguistics, one hundred and fifty years is a lifetime of hard work that did not stop, in which one hundred and fifty batches graduated, and fifty deans consulted on them, one hundred and fifty years of history worthy of review and consideration, and a well-established experience of success in the history of Egypt It was summed up brilliantly by the Prince of Poets, Ahmed ShawkyOne of his immortal poems, and its celebrations were attended by leaders and presidentsSaad Pasha Zaghloul, Mustafa Al-Nahhas , Muhammad Hosni Mubarak , and high-ranking delegations from Arab countries.

In the past, it was behind the emergence of the middle class in modern Egypt, and now it is working with all its energy to preserve identity, with measured steps and a clear moderation, that does not deny the heritage and does not allow it to enslave it, and draws from modernity and post-modernity, and does not drift in fascination and fascination, but rather a regular rhythm. With the rhythm of the new republic under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi , and a civilization that bears the joys of seven thousand years, a rhythm that is building, and a civilization that is conscience, tolerance and citizenship..

Today, Dar Al Uloom is working hard, in full consistency with Egypt's vision (2030), to modernize itself in light of a world that believes in the knowledge economy, the role of education in development, enlightenment and combating extremism, meeting the needs of society, and providing modern solutions to its urgent problems: religious and cultural. To meet the needs of sister countries in a way that strengthens the bonds of Arab cohesion, and to develop its policies and programs in order to support Egypt's soft powers by increasing the number of foreign arrivals and doubling its own resources.

One hundred and fifty years is  “the age of its strong program.”  A lesson in the scientific planning of Egyptian education must be understood by the grandchildren, as the fathers did. The grandchildren of Ali Mubarak Pasha, you are my children, the students of Dar al-Uloom.

The strength of its program comes from the contribution of seven departments in preparing a strong graduate specializing in Arabic language, literature and Islamic sciences:

  • Grammar, morphology and presentations section
  • Department of Linguistics, Semitic and Oriental Studies
  • Department of Literary Studies
  • Department of Rhetoric, Criticism and Comparative Literature
  • Department of Islamic law
  • Department of Islamic Philosophy
  • Department of History and Islamic Civilization

In addition to studying the European language, Hebrew and Persian.

My children, students at home and abroad, Happy New Year on the occasion of the new academic year.
